ship’s log 12: packing everything up

The next big step toward our Boatlife adventure? Letting go.

We packed up our rented apartment and started sorting through everything we owned, deciding what would come with us, what would be stored away, and what we were ready to leave behind for good. Luckily, my parents have an old barn and a spacious house with plenty of storage, which quickly became our temporary “warehouse.”

What sounds simple on paper turned into countless drives back and forth. Some things found their way into storage, others to the dump, and quite a few were sold online. Piece by piece, our old life began to shrink, making space for the new one ahead.

But before we could truly set off, we wanted to throw a farewell party.

Friends and family came together for one last evening, and it turned out to be everything we hoped for. Full of laughter, stories, and those slightly bittersweet moments you try to hold onto just a little longer. Saying goodbye isn’t easy, but sharing that night with everyone made it feel right.

And now?

The car is packed. Every last corner filled.
We take one final look back…

…and start driving north.
